ALFAJORES DANUBIO







ALFAJORES DANUBIO
(Sweet Layered Pastries)

Ingredients

* 250 g ground almonds
* 300 g butter
* 225 g confectioners' sugar
* lemon, rind of
* vanilla essence
* 3 eggs
* almond essence
* 1/4 kg plain flour

Instructions

1.Beat the butter with the sugar and essences.
2.Add the eggs one at a time.
3.Incorporate the flour and the almonds and knead lightly.
4.Place dough in the fridge for about 1/2 hour.
5.Roll out the dough and cut out rounds.
6.Bake at 350 degrees F for about 20 minutes on greased and floured baking sheets.
7.Take 2 rounds and put the together with marmalade, melted chocolate or dulce de leche.
8.then you can also roll the wet edges in shaved coconut.

Milanesa Napolitana

Milanesa Napolitana....a nice Argentina food recipe to try ! Nice one !

Ingredients:
# 2 pounds of cut meat strips
# 3 eggs
# 2 heads of garlic
# 1 can of tomato sauce
# 1 lb of port cheese
# oregano
# flour
# bread crumps
# oil
# salt
# milk
# parsly

INSTRUCTIONS:
Prepare the meat
1) Get the meat
2) Remove the fat
3) Cut the meat into long, thin slices.
4) Salt both sides of the meat

Prepare the eggs and bread crumbs
1) In a large, deep plate add the bread crumbs and flour (You don't need to add it all)
2) Prepare another deep plate or bowl with the eggs, beat them then add some salt
3) Dice the parsly and garlic.
4) Add oregano, diced parsly and diced garlic with the eggs, mix well.

Making the milanesas
1) Put the thin meat strips into the egg mixture, then put it into the bread crumb mixture.
2) Once again put the meat into the eggs, and then the bread crumbs.
3) The meat should be covered with the bread crumbs
4) Add oil to a frying pan, when the oil is hot begin to fry the breaded meat.
5) Flip the meat to allow it to cook on both sides.
6) When the breaded meat is cooked, place it on a plate with paper towels to absorb the oil.
7) Heat the tomato sause.
8) Move the milanesas to another flat pan.
9) Cover the milanesas in salsa, then cut slices of cheese and place them on the salsa.
You should almost cover the whole milanesa in salsa and cheese.
10) Place the pan of milanesas in the oven, the cheese should melt.

Pollo (Marinated Chicken)

Pollo (Marinated Chicken)... a nice Argentina food recipes to try ! Great !

Ingredients:
  • 1 whole chicken, about 4 pounds
  • 1 onion, cut up
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1 glass of white wine
  • 1 apple, grated
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • salt and pepper
  • lemon juice

Directions:
1) Wash the chicken, cut it in pieces and season well with salt and pepper.
2) Place in a glass baking dish.
3) And add the onions, carrots, bayleaf, rosemary, and wine.
4) Cover with foil and place in the fridge to marinate for 24 hours.
5) After 24 hours roast the chicken for 1 hour, use the same dish covered with the same foil
6) Now in another bowl grate the apple and mix it with the water and sugar.
7) After roasting the chicken for 1 hour remove the foil
8) Cover the chicken in the apple mixture
9) Continue cooking the chicken for 20 minutes or more until the chicken is browned and ready.

Pastel de Papas

Pastel de Papas...another nice Argentina food recipe to try ! Great !

Ingredients:
  • 4 cups of mashed potatoes (add butter and salt to taste)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon of chopped parsley
  • 2 tablespoons of grated cheese
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
  • 1 minced clove of fresh garlic (may replace with powder)
  • 1/2 cup of oil
  • 2 cups ground beef
  • Spices to taste

INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Heat the oil. Fry onions and garlic.
2) Stir in tomatoes and tomatoe sauce when onions turn light brown.
3) When tomatoes are cooked, stir in ground beef.
4) Continue stirring to blend well all ingredients. Add the cheese and parsley
5) Cook until beef is brown. Remove fire and then season.
6) Oil a baking dish and then spread potatoes on bottom.
7) Spread the ground beef above the potatoes.
8) Cover the ground beef with the remaining mashed potatoes.
9) Bake in oven till the top is lightly browned.

Ñoquis de papas (Potato Noquis)

Ñoquis de papas (Potato Noquis)... a great Argentina food recipe to try ! Nice !

Ingredients:
# 1 potato for each person
# 1/3 cup of flour for each potato
# salt (to taste)

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Cook the potatoes
2. Mash the potatoes, add salt to taste
3. Add the flour
4. Mix it till you have a soft texture (if necessary add more flour)
5. Move the mixture to a flour covered table for forming
6. Cut the mixture into small strips (more or less the size of a carrot)
7. Cut the strips into small squares
8. Run a fork along the outside of each square to add design (optional)
9. Let them dry for a few minutes, keeping the squares separated so they dont stick
10. Boil water with salt. Carfully add the ñoquies to the boiling water
11. Stir slowly and with care
12. When the ñoquies stop floating, stop the fire and strain them from the pot
13. Ñoquies are great with tomato salsa and grated cheese

Fish Empanadas

Fish Empanadas...a nice Argentina food recipe to try !

Ingredients:
# 2 cups any white fish, boiled. Remember to debone the fish.
# 1 medium onion chopped
# 1/2 medium red pepper in very thin strips
# 1 large tomato seeded and peeled in wedges.
# 3 tablespoons olive oil (cold pressed is prefered).
# 1 tablespoon tomato extract
# 3 tablespoons vegetable or fish broth (water can also be used)
# paprika and salt to taste
# Breadcrumb, garlic and chopped parsley mix.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Combine Oil, chopped onion, red pepper and tomato.
2. Add tomato extract, paprika and salt to form a rather thick sauce. (if sauce comes out too thick, add more broth)
3. Mix in fish with sauce, and if sauce has not thickened, add breadcrumb garlic mix. (Adjust for salt)
4. Fill rounds of doe with fish filling and bake in a hot oven. (around 350’- 400’)

ARGENTINA EMPANADAS

ARGENTINA EMPANADAS ....a nice Argentina Food Recipe to try !

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 pkg. egg roll skins
  • 1 lb. ground meat
  • 1 onion
  • 1 garlic
  • 2 boiled eggs, chopped
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • Salt & pepper
  • Oil for frying
INSTRUCTIONS
Saute meat in skillet with onion and garlic, drain fat. Add eggs and raisins. Fill egg roll skins, fold over and seal. Fry on both sides in oil. The Argentina food recipe of empanadas is ready...enjoy !
